Hi, I am back. Seriously. I have been unmistakeably absent from posting.

But where the heck have I been…well we took a trip of a life time to New Zealand and Australia, here are a few scenes from the first day in New Zealand.

It should not be surprising that there are more sheep than people in New Zealand, but recently the cow population has overtaken the human population. Everywhere in New Zealand was beautiful, green, and full of water.

We stopped at a small fish hut on the West Coromandel Peninsula to grab a smoked mussel lunch. We were in for a surprise as we had a plethora of flavor choices: Plain ‘Ol Smoked, BBQ, Hot Chilli, Garlic, and the list went on. We got some of each.

This was one of the most memorable roads of our entire trip. We had been around some butt clinching curves along the coast then suddenly the road turned inward and we shot up into the mountains to take in revealing vistas of the bay dotted with little white fluffs of sheep.

This was our little home on wheels. IT WAS AWESOME!

Then packed up our life in Tampa and moved to Durham, NC, got settled and hosted our family of nine people for the weekend, if that wasn’t enough then we got a puppy, Shelby!

And I am exhausted.

But I love entertaining and I can’t think of a better way to spend our first weekend in our new home than to host our family for a weekend celebration. My entire family and my husband’s family were both in town to celebrate the White Coat Ceremony, where each Med student is presented with their white coat.

This is a very important first step to becoming a doctor, to don the white coat is to carry with you a heavy load of responsibility and humanism.

Then we celebrated the remainder of the weekend by heading over to the Durham Farmer’s Market and playing hours of badminton and running around in the sprinklers. I swear we are adults.

We are now mostly settled in Durham and getting very used to our new life here. There seems to be many treasures to discover here in Durham and I believe that we will do our best to find them.

I am very much looking forward to my upcoming clients and my future clients! Here is a couple more photos from Chris and Eliese’s engagement session at Meadowlark Gardens in Washington, D.C.

Hello from a rainy day in Rotorua, NZ, the geothermal capital of the North Island. We arrived on Wednesday morning after leaving Monday night from DC (we didn’t have a Tuesday). After popping a few Tylenol PM purchased from an obscenely overpriced airport vendor, the trip was over in a blink. We collected our campervan (suh-weet) and hit the road out of Auckland.

The Coromandel Peninsula was our first stop on the road trip. We found driving on the left not as bad as driving along the cliffs on State Highway 25 along the west coast of the peninsula…a bit of white-knuckle driving, though, did not keep us from enjoying the spectacular views! We stopped in Coromandel town for a light lunch of smoked mussels that were each as big as our heads.

Pressing on, we enjoyed scenic vistas in the unspoilt mountains and forests of the Peninsula. It truly is a different scene: mountainsides dotted with sheep and cattle, coastal towns next to streams with views to outlying rocky islands, with giant Phoenix palms dotting the landscape.

After a night in sleepy Whitianga – it’s much busier in the summertime – we trekked through the coastal forests to Cathedral Cove, a truly magnificent cove with crystal clear water, crisp waterfalls (great for a little shower), and a spectacular natural arch.

For today, we aren’t going to let the rainy day get in the way. We’re headed to the Rotorua Museum and then braving the elements to visit the Hell’s Gate Geothermal Park, followed by a traditional hangi meal (cooked in hot thermal spring) at a Maori village. More later….

A Family Comes Together

Back in January my much loved and free spirited Grandmother passed onto a better place. Our family descended upon my grandparent’s home in Gainesville, FL to spend the last days of her life together in one room. In these final days of her life we played games, went on walks, has slide shows, and sang songs. Every moment of time spent there was magical. For her service all of us grandchildren played a special part in honoring her, we were also requested to wear pink her favorite color. Here are some moments I captured of the weekend of her service.

The Windy City

May 12th, 2011

We made a trip to Chicago for Tom and Jayne’s wedding a few months back and really loved spending some time in downtown. Even better the river was still dyed green for St. Patrick’s Day! Here are just a few pictures from our trip. Stay tuned for some photos of their wedding.
